The Brick Lane Zoo - Private View

A good evening down at the Brick Lane Gallery despite the foul weather and a good crowd. Here are a few abstracted bits and pieces. These are just teasers - go and see the real thing! I met quite a few of the cool artists. And also RJ of Vandalog!

These are by Roa, Macay, Chanoir, Grems and El Bocho.

The Brick Lane Zoo

An interesting street art event kicks off tomorrow in Brick Lane. It is called "The Brick Lane Zoo" and is being hosted at the The Brick Lane Gallery.

The photo shows one of the artists - Macay - earlier today doing her paste-ups outside the gallery. And here  is the blurb for the whole thing:

The Brick Lane Gallery is proud to present “The Brick Lane Zoo” where exotic and wild animals fresh from the city streets cross the globe to showcase at The Brick Lane Zoo. 15 international Street and Urban Artists from the UK, France, Spain, USA, Argentina, Belgium and Germany come together under one roof armed with spraycans, paste ups and stencils to unleash their wild beasts into our urban jungle. Feral animals will roam the gallery walls and stray between the visitors. The upper canopy will be adorned with a striking array of animals ranging from skeletal rhinos and grizzly bears to happy fish. Combining the exceptional talents of our street artists the walls of the gallery will come to life.

Eyesaw in Benny's Bar

Austin Gallery is in the basement of Benny's Bar. This is on the first stair down.... I think EYESAW sells t-shirts with this design. See my earlier post on Benny's Bar.

Benny's Bar

This bar on Bethnal Green Road ( pretty much where Brick Lane ends)  is quite a place. It advertises itself as having "great music, street art, heated beer garden, mouth warering cocktails, friendly staff, quality beers, wines, spirits ..all at prices that won't induce a credit crisis." I can confirm quite a few of those attributes. The beer garden is also very nice and has striking street art etc. Check out their flickr photos.
