This area at the top of Brick Lane (nr Aldgate East ) is boarded off now. It happened as recently as last month ( end July or start August 2009). The breeze blocks have blocked from view the big space inside. That area was used by drug addicts and graffiti artists ( addicts still do use it...they just jump the high fence). Needles, foil and excrement were a common sight if you peered in and looked to the right where the mattress was. The other pictures show what it looked like. In the second image, the face is by the Burning Candy Boys.
Development both presents and closes off opportunities....
