Mocking Berlusconi in Lampedusa

Awesome satirical piece showing Berlusconi in a clown's collar and in Mussolini type of garb and pose? CLICK PIC TO VIEW LARGE.

I snapped this last week in Lampedusa, an island in the Med about 40 minutes flight time from Sicily. This is the island which has been the scene of many desperate boat landings from Africa. Policy changed this year and an aggressive push-back ( to Africa) policy has been set in place together with some agreements with Libya....In that context, this piece must be seen as critical of Berlusconi and his government.

Anti-fascist stencil in Rome

On saturday I went to a massive march in Rome demonstrating against
racism and racist laws in Italy. Here is a snap I took in Trastevere
of a very effective stencil. Trastevere is a charming area of Rome. It
is also covered with stickers, paste-ups, graffiti and street art!

Caffe Esilio is an NGO in Marghera, Venice involved in looking after immigrants' interests. The volunteers run educational classes and provide information and help with basic daily needs.

This is another shot of the side view of the building.

This shot was taken with a Nikon D700 at night with only the lighting from the surroundings lighting up the building. The D700  thankfully can reach high ISOs!
